Audience readings

Types of readings:

Preferred readings- when the audience responds to the product the way producers want/need them to.

Negotiated readings-when a member of the audience partly agrees with part of the product e.g. film, documentary & tv

Oppositional meaning -when the audience are in complete disagreement with the products message or setting.

Modes of address:

Direct- giving the audience direct contact

Indirect- has a more objective speech

Authoritative- from a higher point of view

Familiar- more of a chatty/ friendly vibe.

Task four- make slogans :

Direct- ' you can make it happen'

Indirect-'this is one hell of an energy drink '

Authoritative-'this drink will BOOST your performance'

Familiar- 'check out this sick energy drink'
